Barb is an Anishnaabe ( Ojibwe) woman from Hiawatha First Nation. Her Anishnaabe name is Niiwinnodin (Four Winds). Barb is extremely proud of her Anishnaabe heritage and enjoys having the opportunity to paint anything that represents her people. This pride in her Anishnaabe legacy is not just evident in the paintings themselves, it is also apparent in the fact that she identifies herself as the artist of these wonderful paintings by using Ojibwe syllabics which symbolizes her Anishnaabe name. Barb is also a mother of four children, and the paintings are her way to ensure her heritage,culture and traditions are passed on to them
